Jones Plans TCU Junior Day Visit

Allen, TX four-star cornerback Jaylon Jones plans to visit TCU on January 31st.

Allen,TX defensive back Jaylon Jones is set to have a busy off-season after he helped his team win their third consecutive state championship last month.

Now, his focus shifts to recruiting; where he is considered one of the top defensive backs in the country for the 2016 class.

Currently rated as the No.7 cornerback prospect in the nation by Scout.com, Jones has offers from Arizona State, Baylor, Miami, Ole Miss, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech and Tulsa.

“It’s going good; I have no favorites still,” he said. “I’m still enjoying it. The only thing I have right now is TCU on January 31st; I’m going to their junior day. I’m definitely going to take some visits out of state probably in the summer; maybe Baylor, Ole Miss, Arizona State and Miami pretty much. I haven’t set any dates yet.”

Jones has spoken highly of TCU throughout the recruiting process. Needless to say, the Frogs’ 12-1 season and 42-3 blowout win over Ole Miss only made his interest grow in the program.

“It’s a great defensive team; their last game really impressed me against Ole Miss,” he said. “They showed the SEC that the Big 12 can still play with them. Coach Patterson is a great coach.”

Aside from what the Frogs’ have done on the field, Jones has built a good relationship with his recruiter; Sonny Cumbie. Jones says the two communicate as often as they’re allowed.

“Me and him are real tight; we talk just about every week,” he said of Cumbie. “Sometimes it’s not even about recruiting; we just have that good relationship.”
