Evans to visit TCU
Dallas (TX) Hillcrest athlete Arico Evans committed to Kansas in early January but since that time he’s continued to make official visits to select programs. He still remains committed to the Jayhawks however. Evans just returned from an official visit to Texas Tech last weekend in a visit he described as “pretty good”. Evans hit it off with Red Raiders safeties coach Trey Haverty. “Coach Haverty is a great man; he’s funny,” Evans said. Up next is an official visit to TCU this weekend. The Frogs were one of the first programs to offer the talented Evans; offering him as an athlete. Evans told HornedFrogBlitz.com that despite his commitment to Kansas over offers from TCU and Texas Tech among others, his interest in the Frogs never died. “TCU was never out the picture at all,” he said. “(I) just caught up in the recruiting process. I’m going to see if TCU is where I should go.” Although the Frogs initially offered Evans as an athlete, he says the interest now is on the defensive side of the ball. That could be due to Frogs’ junior safety Chris Hackett declaring for the NFL Draft. Recruiting Evans from the Frogs is the head coach himself; Gary Patterson. Evans says the coach sees him in the same role as Hackett. “Coach P wants me to play defense,” he said. “Coach P has told me he really likes me so I’ m going to see what's all the talk at TCU.” Following his visit to TCU, Evans will make one last visit to Arkansas on the 30th.
