Sylvie Humbled By TCU Offer

TCU hosted several prospects on Saturday and among them was Shreveport (LA) Calvary Baptist defensive back Chanse Sylvie.

TCU hosted their first junior day on Saturday and among the visitors in attendance was Shreveport (LA) Calvary Baptist Academy safety Chanse Sylvie.

Sylvie is one of the top defensive backs in Louisiana and has picked up offers from Oklahoma, Houston, Mississippi State, Northwestern, Texas Tech and Utah among others.

Sylvie’s visit to TCU was the first time he’s had a chance to see the Ft. Worth campus up close.

“It was great, (it) was my first junior day,” he said. “I was surprised I got to wear the pads with the jersey. The whole experience was great! The coaches were awesome and the facilities were beautiful! TCU is a wonderful place.”

Although he didn’t receive a visit while in town on Saturday, that didn’t get his spirits down too much. That’s a good thing because less than 24 hours later, Sylvie received the offer.

“I’m thankful and humble and I love TCU,” he said. “Greatness is not owned, it is leased and the rent is due every day.”

Sylvie had a huge season in 2014 as he racked up 122 tackles, six tackles for loss, one interception, four forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and nine pass breakups.

The rising defensive back says the Frogs coaching staff said he reminds them of a recent Frog great; Chris Hackett.

“They see me playing like him but better,” he said. “Just hard work and dedication; like I said earlier, greatness is not owned, it is leased and the rent is due every day.
