Commit Refresher: Cornerbacks

With the camps kicking off this week for all levels of football that means signing day is getting ever so close. Let's take a look at the two current 2016 commits that are projected to play cornerback.

Currently the Horned Frogs have two commits in the 2016 class that are classified as cornerbacks.

Vernon Scott, Mansfield Summit HS, 6-2 193

The most recent commit to coach Gary Patterson has huge upside. Where he will fit in on defense is anyone’s best guess right now. Long enough to be a cornerback and has the frame to put on some muscle to move over to safety. Last season, Scott put up solid numbers with 58 tackles, two forced fumbles, two interceptions and seven pass break ups.

KeShawn Somerville, Hendrickson HS, 5-9 168

What is lacked in size is made up for with speed, quickness and wingspan. On Friday night’s you can usually find Somerville locked up against opposing teams top wide receivers. As one of the top cornerbacks in the state, Somerville’s offer list includes various schools from the Big 12 and SEC.
