Patterson updates the injury status of his wide receivers, his defense and his team's preparation for Minnesota
Gary Patterson said Wednesday after practice that he expects wide receiver Josh Doctson to play when TCU kicks off against Minnesota in eight days. He also said Deante Gray is doubtful.
Patterson added that he expects true freshmen Kavontae Turpin, Jaelan Austin and Jarrison Stewart to all contribute this year. He said they originally intended to redshirt Stewart but their hand was forced when Cameron Echols-Luper elected to transfer to Arkansas State.
Freshmen linebacker Mike Freeze is still running with the first team, Patterson said. Montrel Wilson, who dealt with a few injuries during fall camp, is now running with the second team.
Overall, Patterson seemed pleased with the team. Patterson rarely expressed satisfaction with his team on both sides of the ball during fall camp. This was a rare occasion.
