TCU Falls to LMU in Season Opener

TCU will look to even the series Saturday at 2 p.m.

TCU baseball fell to Loyola Marymount University 5-3 Friday night in their season-opening contest.

LMU jumped to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning capitalizing on Rex Hill’s first start on the mound for the Horned Frogs. The transfer allowed three runs over the course of 4 1/3 innings.

TCU cut into the LMU lead when Ryan Merril connected for a two-run double down the left field line in the in the fourth inning.

Josh Watson later evened the score at three with a triple that allowed him to score on an error.

A couple of late defensive miscues allowed LMU to pull away with a 5-3 victory and a chance to take the series Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lupton Stadium.
