TCU announced a contract extension for head coach Gary Patterson on Tuesday, extending the longtime coach thru the 2022 season. Patterson is entering his 16th season as the head coach of the Horned Frogs.
“Gary Patterson is synonymous with TCU and Fort Worth,” TCU athletic director Chris Del Conte said. “His value to our community goes beyond the football field. It’s obviously a great day for our Horned Frogs Family when Coach Patterson reiterates that TCU and Fort Worth are his home!"
Patterson is 23-3 the last two seasons in Fort Worth, with wins in both the Peach and Alamo Bowl. The Frogs finished both seasons ranked inside the top 10 in the final poll. Since 2009, the Patterson has lead TCU to a spot in the final Top 10 a total of five times.
Coming off arguably his best recruiting class during his tenure at TCU, Patterson has his program ranked No. 14 in the early USA Today Coaches Preseason Poll.
Beyond years, terms of the deal were not released. According to a report in the Fort Worth Star Telegram, Patterson was previously making nearly $4 million a season.
