TCU opens spring practice on Friday

Preparations for the 2017 baseball season officially get underway on Friday as the TCU baseball team hits the field for its first official practice of the season.

FORT WORTH – Preparations for the 2017 baseball season officially get underway on Friday as the TCU baseball team hits the field for its first official practice of the season. 

Under the guidance of 14th year head coach Jim Schlossnagle TCU has made three straight trips to the College World Series. He has guided TCU to a 565-254 record over the last 13 seasons. The Frogs have appeared in 12 NCAA Regionals, six NCAA Super Regionals and four College World Series.

So far this season, the Horned Frogs have been the No. 1 team in all four polls released. For the second time in program history, Collegiate Baseball tabbed TCU its preseason No. 1, while the Frogs earned a No. 1 ranking for the first time by D1Baseball.com, Perfect Game and Baseball America.

A quintet of Frogs have earned preseason All-American nods in Luken Baker, Elliott Barzilli, Durbin Feltman, Brian Howard and Evan Skoug. TCU returns 18 letterwinners and welcomes back eight of nine field starters. Additionally nine pitchers who saw time on the mound in 2016 are back in the fold. The Frogs also welcomed in a top-10 recruiting class highlighted by the draft’s 41st overall pick, Nick Lodolo, who was the highest draftee not to sign.
