Frogs practice and talk to the media in NY

TCU head coach Jamie Dixon talked with the media about his return to the NIT.

In the World’s Most Famous Arena, the TCU Horned Frogs (22-15) will play the UCF Knights (24-11) at 8 PM CT Tuesday in the semifinals of the National Invitation Tournament at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

TCU is making its seventh appearance in the NIT and the first since 2005. In 2005, the Frogs advanced past the first two rounds before falling at Maryland in the quarterfinals. This is the first time TCU has advanced past the quarterfinal round. On March 15, TCU hosted its first NIT game since 1999 when it defeated Nebraska in the second round before falling to Oregon in Fort Worth in the quarterfinals. TCU is 12-6 all-time in the NIT. Overall, it’s the 15th postseason appearance for the program and the first since the 2012 College Basketball Invitational.

It is believed be the first time in school history that TCU will play in Madison Square Garden. The last time TCU played in the state of New York was on Dec. 3, 2005, an 80-64 loss at Syracuse. TCU’s only game in New York City came on Jan. 1, 1945, a 56-31 loss to Long Island.
