The rules could always change, but Baton Rouge (Louisiana) Southern Lab high school wide receiver Jacobi Bellazin has nearly 1,000 days before he can sign a national letter of intent. http://www.scout.com/player/216099-jacobi-bellazin
It didn’t stop him from verbally committing to TCU on Saturday. The 2020 wide receiver put up big numbers as a freshman for the Kittens in 2016, posting 1,359 all-purpose yards and 13 touchdowns according to HUDL.
“To be honest, TCU has always been my dream school,” said Bellazin, when talking with Horned Frog Insider on Saturday night.” I’m sort of a quick, shifty receiver. In their offense, I fit perfectly. I have always said, ‘if they ever offer me, that is where I’m going to go.’ So really, it is a dream school.”
After a strong freshman campaign, schools like Georgia, Kansas State, Purdue, Utah and Northern Illinois came to the table with an offer – among others. But, it was always TCU where Bellazin saw himself playing. After visiting on Saturday…
“If that is where I want to be, why not commit? That is my dream school,” said Bellazin, when asked about the early decision. “I never expected all this to happen. I just realized, I have three more years before signing.”
So what is TCU getting?
“I’m not a tall receiver, but I can play like tall receiver. I’m fast, quick, and shifty, I can go get the ball. I like to work on the field,” said Bellazin. “I have been grinding for this. I just need to stay in the weight room now. Stay hungry. Keep working in school. And pray.”
Bellazin described the moment he told the staff.
“They were excited. They told me that I’m always going to be No. 1 on their board,” said the freshman. “My message to TCU fans? They get a hard working player today.”
