TCU lands DFW prep OL John Lanz

TCU has landed offensive lineman John Lanz, from Denton Guyer.

After taking in TCU junior day in January, picking up quite a few offers since, and seeing his stock rise during the evaluation period, Denton (Texas) Guyer high school 2018 offensive lineman John Lanz committed to TCU on Friday. The junior had a double-digit offer list, including: Baylor, Arizona State and Texas Tech. http://www.scout.com/player/212361-john-lanz

"TCU is a great university both in academics and athletics. Coach Patterson has built a great program that has shown great tradition to excellence. I really like Coach Cumbie, Coach Anderson, and all the other coaches I have started to build relationships with," said Lanz at the time of his visit.

Scout.com's Gabe Brooks saw Lanz in person during the 2016 season.

"The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Lanz plays left tackle for Guyer and sometimes flips to the right side when the Wildcats go unbalanced," said Brooks. "He's physical at the point of attack and consistently won the leverage battle in last week's game. He can finish blocks with power and tenacity at times."

We will have more with the junior in the coming days.
