2008 Freshman Scouting Report: Yogi Gallegos

In the first of a series of profiles on TCU's 2008 incoming freshman football players, BigPurpleNation.com takes a look at quarterback Yogi Gallegos.

TCU landed a good one when they reeled in Gallegos. The 6-1, 180-pound quarterback chose TCU after receiving interest from traditional college football powers such as LSU, Alabama, Miami, and Nebraska among others.

An exciting player to watch, Gallegos passed for over 2,400 yards and 15 touchdowns last season as a senior at Irving High School in Irving, completing over 60 percent of his passes in the process.

Gallegos is an outstanding spread offense QB with a nice live arm, a quick release, and good throwing mechanics. He has a nice passing touch and throws a very catchable ball.

In addition, Gallegos has exceptional foot quickness. He throws the ball well on the run to both sides of the field and is also a threat to run with the football, rushing for five touchdowns last season while playing for Irving High.

Gallegos also has good intangibles. He's a tough kid and an intense competitor with good team-leadership skills.

When you add it all up, there's a lot to like about Yogi Gallegos.

BigPurpleNation.com thinks TCU fans will enjoy having Gallegos around for the next four or five years.
