August 9th Morning Practice Report

You couldn't of asked for better weather conditions this morning as the Horned Frogs held an early morning practice. A nice breeze and temps in the low to mid 80's made practice quite enjoyable. BigPurpleNation.com was able to catch up with Coach Patterson for a quick video one-on-one after.

A big thank you goes out to Coach Patterson for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk.

Some quick nuggets from morning practice:

Edward Wesley- The freshman running back continued to impress this morning. He had a few nice catches on the flat during passing drills, but his most impressive play came when the offensive was going against he defense. Wesley taking a rep with the 1st team took a handoff to the outside untouched for a score. It was a great opportunity for everyone to see his 4.4 forty speed.

Daryl Washington- had tremendous pass coverage in 7-on-7 drills. The linebacker had two great pass deflections, one against Andy Dalton and one against Marcus Jackson.

Ryan Christian- was perfect in the one-on-on W.R. v.s. D.B. drills. He also did a great job in special team drills. His first kick return he was able to get to the outside untouched.

Marcus Jackson looked very good in 7 on 7 drills going 5-7 against a blend of the 1st and 2nd team defense. He was able to pass to show multiple passes going deep, using some touch over the middle, and dumping to backs on the flats. A very good morning for Jackson.

Coach Patterson on the receivers: "I think we are better then we were last year, now the key will be to see if they do it in the scrimmage and if they do it in the ball games."

BigPurpleNation.com will have a full report from the Horned Frogs first scrimmage tonight!
