TCU junior college transfer forward Edvinas Ruzgas led all scorers with a career high 24 points after shooting 5 for 9 from three point land.
"I needed to have a good game and shoot the ball well," Ruzgas told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Mercedes Mayer after the game. "Finally guys found me and I hit my shots."
Things did not look good early and late for the Frogs. TCU was down seven points early in the first half and had a sixteen point lead cut to four late, but they got crucial stops and buckets when it counted. This was just the Frogs second road win of the season. They had previously beaten Colorado in Boulder.
"I was really proud of our guys," Christian told Mayer "Texas Tech made so many runs at us and hit big shots down the stretch, but we showed a little resiliency today — something we hadn't done, especially on the road."
TCU got another fine performance from freshman point guard Ronnie Moss. The Fort Worth product scored 15 points while adding 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Senior power forward Kevin Langford added 14 points while guard Keion Mitchem scored 12.
If TCU will want to continue to have success, they will have to continue to get good performances for Zvonko Buljan. The native of Split, Croatia, scored 12 points and pulled down a team high 9 rebounds. Buljan and Langford open up the perimeter for three point specialist Edvinas Ruzgas to get open looks.
TCU plays Mountain West Conference foe UNLV at home on Saturday night. Tip-off is set for 4:30.
