The Temple defense played well in the first half of Saturday's 49-10 Homecoming win over Tulane. They played great in the second half.
When did they go from good to great?
The biggest play came late in the second quarter, when the Owls had a 14-10 lead, but Tulane had the ball. On 3rd-and-11, Temple dropped eight men into coverage and rushed three. But three was more than enough, as senior defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis powered through the middle and sacked Tulane quarterback Tanner Lee for a six-yard loss.
It was the first of four sacks for the Owls, who limited the Green Wave to just three first downs in the second half. And it all started with Ioannidis. Watch his postgame interview here.
