Jager Gardner sets Temple record with 94-yard TD run at SMU

Freshman tailback broke loose on the Owls' second play from scrimmage

DALLAS - Coach Matt Rhule said that true freshman Jager Gardner earned the starting nod at tailback for Friday night's game at SMU, regardless of the fact that junior starter Jahad Thomas was injured.  Gardner validated his coach's faith with a 94-yard touchdown run on Temple's second offensive play, and finished with 110 yards rushing in the Owls' 60-40 victory over the Mustangs.
