Normally it might be of some concern that the player slated to replace one of the Temple football team's best players suffered an broken hand on the first day of spring practice.
But the fact McGowan is expected to be healthy in the fall and the Owls have a good feel of what he can accomplish lessens the impact of him being limited this spring.
McGowan started four games at center last season, replacing injured standout Kyle Friend, and will take over the role full time this year. The redshirt senior started at right guard and left guard for most of his sophomore season and also started at right guard during his freshman year.
When the Owls take the field for the opener against Army for the opening game in September, McGowan will be one of their more experience players.
Listen to an interview with McGowan from an earlier spring practice. Temple will close spring with the Cherry and White game on Saturday.
