Temple senior RB Jahad Thomas working on leadership, durability

After a breakout junior year, Thomas is taking the steps to be better in 2016

Jahad Thomas is the leader of a talented corps of Temple running backs in more ways than one.

The senior is the starter and once again will be expected to carry the load after rushing for 1,262 yards last year. But he is also tasked with helping to bring along a group of younger backs like Ryquell Armstead. Jager Gardner and David Hood.

While those backs will be looked at to replace Thomas after this season, the coaching staff would also like them to take some of the load off the starter this year. The number of carries took their toll on Thomas last year and he was worn down by the end of the campaign.

That's why in addition to leading his fellow running backs, Thomas is working on putting on weight and becoming more durable next year so that when the Owls get back to a bowl game at the end of the year, he can still be at his peak.

Listen to Thomas talk about his goals this spring. The Cherry and White game will close spring practice on Saturday.
