Temple coach Fran Dunphy previews the 2016-2017 season

The Owls will open play with an intriguing first game against La Salle on Friday night.

After a trip to the NCAA Tournament last year following a two-year hiatus, the Temple men's basketball team is ready to tip off the 2016-2017 season with a Big 5 game against La Salle at the Liacouras Center on Friday night.

Can the Owls, who were picked their traditional sixth in the American Athletic Conference standings, get back to the NCAAs? There are probably more questions this year than in many of Dunphy's past seasons on North Broadt Street.

Injuries to guards Josh Brown and Trey Lowe will put a lot of pressure on young players, including freshman Alani Moore. Junior Obi Enechiyonia should be Temple's go-to scorer and they have some other front-court veterans like Mark Williams and Daniel Dingle.

What does head coach Fran Dunphy think of the Owls' prospects for the season? Listen to Dunphy speak on the team's injuries, what he expects from the young players and what he needs from his veterans as the season is about to tip off on Friday night.
