There is one date circled on the calendar for one current Tennessee commitment.

That date is November 6 for Memphis Melrose athlete Tino Thomas, that's also the date that the Volunteers will travel to the Bluff City to take on the home standing Tigers.

"I can't wait," Thomas told InsideTennessee.com. "I wasn't able to make it to the Tennessee/Alabama game, but I promise you I will be at the Memphis game."

While Thomas wasn't able to make the trip to Knoxville, that didn't keep him from watching the game on national television.

"I watched the game on ESPN," Thomas said. "I wouldn't have missed it. I thought they played extremely well in the first half, they seemed to run out of steam."

Thomas is also excited about his recent pledge to the Tennessee football team.

"Coach (Derek) Dooley is building something special," Thomas said. "I can't wait to be a part of that. He will play whoever the best player is, no matter how old they are. I'm looking forward to coming in and playing right away."

How committed is Thomas?

"I'm very solid on my commitment to Tennessee," Thomas said. "I couldn't be happier with my decision to be a Volunteer."

Thomas' Melrose team will travel to Whitehaven this Friday night for their regular season finale. A win should put Melrose in the playoffs, a loss they will have to take the wait and see approach what happens.

"Right now we are focused on winning the game so we can make the playoffs for sure," Thomas said. "It will be a tough game, but if we play well we should be ok."
