Jerry Green next for UGA?

Is it possible that the former University of Tennessee head basketball coach could be heading to Athens?

Now that Jim Harrick has resigned as head basketball coach at the University of Georgia, I think the Bulldogs should hire Jerry Green as the successor.

Don't laugh. When your program is barred from postseason play, why not hire a guy with a track record of winning 20 games in the regular season, then never showing up in postseason play? Green would still be Tennessee's head coach if the season ended in February, instead of March.

Well ... maybe not.

Anyway, Harrick has resigned amid allegations of NCAA rules violations. He says he wants to spend more time with his grandchildren. Can you imagine him playing checkers with a 10-year-old?

''Hey, Grandpa! You moved two checkers on one turn. That's not fair!''
