Why should you be thankful?

Each and everyone of us has our personal reasons to be thankful, but in this story we will take a look on why Vol Nation should be thankful on this day of Thanksgiving.

It's easy to focus on the negatives of the last three football seasons here at the University of Tennessee, but on this gracious holiday lets look at the reasons we should be thankful for being a Tennessee Volunteer.

I for one I'm thankful for each of UT's seniors who have endured three head coaches in three years.

These young men have never given up, they have shown the true spirit of being a Tennessee Volunteer. They have given their all for Volunteer Nation.

I'm thankful for Derek Dooley.

Dooley has brought stability back to this proud program. Yes I could say once proud program, but despite the win and loss records the last three years, the one thing I have learned during my time in Knoxville is that Vol Nation is never once proud, they are always proud of their program no matter the circumstances.

Dooley is a man of high character, the type of person that you want teaching your son's the game of football but more importantly the game of life.

One of the most impressive things Dooley has done since his arrival to Knoxville is creating the Vols for Life Program. A character educational program to develop each Vol on and off the field.

Football will only last a short time of a person's life, it's what you learning during that four years that will help mold and make each young man for the rest of their lives. Thank you Coach Dooley for caring for each player well beyond their careers here at Rocky Top.

While this season has had it's ups and downs as far as the wins and losses there are a lot of reasons to be thankful for the future of this program.

The future is bright.

This team is loaded with so much young talent, too much to break down in this one story.

Some outsiders might ask why go to Tennessee?

I would answer why not?

Out of all the SEC school campuses, there isn't one that can match up to Rocky Top.

Knoxville is the perfect size to host Rocky Top. It's one of the very best cities of all the SEC schools. Yes it's actually a city, instead of some of the college towns at other locales.

How many college campuses has a major river running close to it's campus?

How may college campuses have the majestic Smokey Mountains a stone throw away from their schools?

Every prospect that visits the UT campus is blown away by their Rocky Top Experience, it's easy for me to see why.

A lot of visitors rave about the game day experience, the electric atmosphere of Neyland Stadium.

Almost everyone mentions how nice the people of Vol Nation are.

What else could anyone ask for?

Now with Dooley at the helm of the Vol Football program, you have a man that cares about the player, their families and of course the Big Orange Nation Family.

What more could you ask for?

More importantly what more can you be Thankful for?

Tennessee is the perfect place, for many who have experienced it they reference it as God's Country. It's easy to see why.

Happy Thanksgiving from the staff and families of InsideTennessee, we wish each and everyone of you a very Happy Holiday, thank you for being a part of our family and for allowing us to be a part of yours.
