Getting out of small junior college towns isn't always easy, especially when it's Scooba Mississippi.
Junior college defensive back Izauea Lanier missed his ride to Birmingham, Alabama and during the process missed his flight to Knoxville this past Friday. The string of events and his absence from his official visit caused Vols fans to panic.
"I missed my flight because I couldn't get a ride," Lanier told InsideTennessee.com. "I called the UT coaches that I missed my flight, they told me not to worry; I could come up this weekend."
Lanier picked up an offer from Florida last week and was scheduled to visit the Gators this upcoming weekend.
"I have cancelled my trip to Florida," Lanier said. "I don't think Florida is a good fit for me. I think I need to go to Tennessee instead of the Florida trip."
There does appear to be another school that is weighing in his decision making process.
"Tennessee and Ole Miss are my top two," Lanier said. "I will go and take a visit during the week to Oxford, I have heard that Knoxville is a lot bigger place."
It appears that the Vols may have a good shot at his services.
"I like Tennessee a lot," Lanier said. "I can't wait to get up there."
