2004 Recruiting Profile: Jerome Simpson (WR)

Yesterday we gave a profile of Fred Davis. A soon-to-be, high profile recruit that is going to be a wide receiver when he gets to college. The Vols have the interest of another big-time receiver and he just happens to be very interested.

Reidsville (NC) wide receiver Jerome Simpson is already earning national attention after his team won the state championship. Teams such as "Oklahoma, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, and all of the local teams" are contacting Simpson's head coach Jim Teague.

"He really is pretty open to everything, and that is going to make him more desireable for a lot of the schools."

Though Simpson did grow up a fan of a school, he has two leaders.

"I was a North Carolina fan, and I am still a fan, but I really like them and Tennessee.

"I really do not know who I like, but whoever shows the most attention, I could go to."

Family will play a big role, according to the 6-foot-3, 180 pounder.

"My mom will be a big part of the decision. I am not going to decide alone - we will both make the decision at the same time. One of my cousins said I should make a decision early to get the pressure off of me, and I probably will decide early. You just never know."

Simpson is not fully sure of which camps he will attend outside of the Nike Camp in Blacksburg this summer.
