Delmonico eyes 200th SEC win

After losing the last two games of a three-game weekend series with Ole Miss, Tennessee's Baseball Vols try to get back on the winning track Wednesday, when they host Tennessee Wesleyan at 7 p.m.

The Georgia Bulldogs then visit Lindsey Nelson Stadium for games Friday (7 p.m.), Saturday (7 p.m.) and Sunday (2 p.m.). The Friday and Saturday games will be aired on CSS-TV. Vol head man Rod Delmonico will be chasing his 200th SEC victory in the Georgia series. He currently stands 199-185 in league play.

Tennessee (18-13 overall and 5-7 in the SEC) is coming off a 3-2 week. The Vols beat Wofford 4-0, ETSU 11-3 and Ole Miss 7-2 to open the week, but bowed by 6-3 and 9-8 scores in the final two games vs. the Rebels.

Junior catcher Javi Herrera carries a career-high 10-game hitting streak, matching the longest by a Vol this season. Michael Rivera also had a 10-game streak. Herrera leads the Vols with a .352 average and six home runs, plus 19 RBI. He also leads UT in walks and on-base percentage.
