Profile 2004 - Josh Smyth (FB)

There aren't many teams that take advantage of the fullback position in college football, but the ones that do have been in contact with Hoover, AL product Josh Smyth.

"He's a definite Division 1 fullback," said Head Coach Rush Propst. "Anyone that runs from the 'I-formation' has been in contact with us about Josh; Ohio State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Auburn, LSU, those are some of the teams off the top of my head. I coached Auburn fullback Brandon Johnson at Bryant, and I think he can be just as good. Brandon was a little quicker, but Josh is bigger."

At 6-0 and 230 pounds with a 4.75 forty, Smyth is a wrecking ball out of the backfield. he had 14 touchdowns in a limited number of carries last year. Fullback is not the glamour position of the offense, but a good one can make or break an offense, and Smyth is a good one.
