Glory Johnson has thumb surgery

Jenny Moshak, University of Tennessee Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine, announced Monday morning that Lady Vol basketball junior Glory Johnson had successful thumb surgery.

"Drs. Robert Ivy and Russell Betcher, UT team orthopaedists, performed surgery on Glory's left thumb this morning at UT Hospital," Jenny Moshak said. "They repaired a tear to her ulnar collateral ligament."

Glory Johnson, a 6'3 post from Knoxville, injured the thumb in practice last week while playing defense in Pratt Pavilion.

"The procedure went well," said Moshak. "Glory will be in a cast for about four weeks, and then we will begin the rehabilitation process."

This season, Johnson appeared in all 37 games for Tennessee and was the Lady Vols' leading rebounder at 9.7 rpg and third leading scorer at 12.0 ppg.
