Five mid-term frosh to start

Five of Tennessee's six mid-term freshmen are scheduled to start Saturday's Orange & White Game, based on depth charts released by the school earlier today.

In a bit of a surprise Vincent Dallas will start ahead of sophomore Matt Milton at the wide receiver spot opposite Justin Hunter for the Orange squad. Dallas is a 5-11, 173-pounder from Ellenwood, Ga. Milton is a 6-5, 206-pounder from Mascoutah, Ill., who reportedly has had a very good spring.

Mid-term freshman Justin Coleman will start ahead of senior C. J. Fleming at left cornerback for the White squad. Coleman is a 5-10, 172-pounder from Brunswick, Ga. Fleming is a 5-10, 178-pounder from Richmond, Va.

Mid-term freshman Marcus Jackson of Vero Beach, Fla., will start at left guard for the Orange squad.

Mid-term freshman Mack Crowder of Bristol will start at center for the White team. That may be in part because the top two centers of 2010 - James Stone and Darin Gooch - are on the Orange roster, although Gooch will start at guard.

Mid-term freshman Brendan Downs of Bristol will start at tight end for the White team.

The only mid-term freshman not scheduled to start is quarterback Justin Worley, who is the chief backup to White QB Matt Simms.

In a mild surprise, senior Anthony Anderson is listed ahead of redshirt freshman Naz Oliver at right cornerback for the Orange. Oliver was working with the first team prior to suffering a knee injury last spring.

Junior Eric Gordon will start ahead of senior Art Evans at right cornerback for the White team. Each started six games last fall but Evans probably would've started more if he hadn't incurred a late-season suspension.

Because of injuries and Tennessee's lack of depth, four walk-ons will be starting on Saturday. Senior Shane Reveiz (Farragut) will start at middle linebacker for the White and redshirt freshman Jacob Gilliam (Farragut) will start at left offensive tackle for the Orange. Senior Chip Rome, a transfer from Austin Peay, will punt for the Orange. Redshirt freshman Derrick Brodus (Alcoa) will handle placements and kickoffs for the White.
