"Yeah, we've been expecting Tennessee to call," Peralta told InsideTennessee this afternoon. "We're just kind of waiting to see what Tennessee is going to do."
Jared Guest averaged 16.8 points, 12.7 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game last season, leading Charis to a 35-5 record and the prep school national title. He shot a sizzling 58.3 percent from 3 and is described by his coach as "very, very athletic."
Guest's exploits have attracted attention from recruiters representing Tennessee, Clemson, North Carolina State, Virginia Commonwealth, Maryland, Xavier, Illinois, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Georgia.
Peeralta said Guest lists Tennessee among his four favorites, along with VCU, Georgia and Maryland. He reportedly would like to visit the UT campus but only if he has a scholarship offer in hand.
"He's only got five visits, and he's got more than five programs interested in him," Peralta said. "He's definitely interested in Tennessee but they haven't offered a scholarship yet."
Asked if he thinks a scholarship offer is forthcoming from the Vols, Peralta replied: "I think they're looking for a little wider body but we'll see."
Tennessee also is recruiting 6-9, 230-pound Yemi Makanjuola from Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, N.C., and 6-8, 240-pound junior college prospect Dwight Miller of Midland (Texas) College.
