The center/ defensive tackle from Loveland High School in <!--Default For Colorado is to ignore-->Colorado currently has 16 scholarship offers.

One of the nation's top prospects and best offensive linemen is Jeff Byers from Fort Collins (Col.) Loveland High School. Byers is a center and defensive tackle. He is big and strong and very fast and quick. Byers, 6-4 and 272 pounds, runs in the 4.8 range, bench presses 385, squats 515 and power cleans 330. He also carries a 3.96 grade point average. Some coaches have said he is the best OL prospect to come out in a few seasons.

"On defense, I just have a motor," Byers said. "I just go and make plays. I never give up. At center, it's my speed and footwork. I am also intense out there. I do a lot of pulling (about 20% of the time)."

According to Byers, he currently has 16 scholarship offers from such schools as Tennessee, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Nebraska, LSU, UCLA, Colorado, Stanford, Kansas State and Iowa State. Plenty more are on the way.

"I want to take my visits and see what is out there. I want to win a national title, pick a team with good chemistry, and a great coaching staff and a school with great academics. Right now, I am leaving everything open. I need to take my visits."

Byers has taken unofficial visits to Texas, Oklahoma, Colorado, Nebraska, and Colorado State. This summer, he plans on camping at Nebraska and Wyoming (team). Byers also throws in track and made All-Conference in basketball after averaging 13 points and 8 rebounds as a junior. Defensively last season, he recorded 28 tackles for a loss.
