For some Tennessee High School athletes, it's natural growing up rooting for the biggest University in your home state.
That's the case for Decaturville Riverdale HS defensive back Marquis Phelps.
Phelps recently attended a camp at the University of Tennessee and left Rocky Top with a great impression.
"The camp was great, it was a lot of fun," Phelps told InsideTennessee.com. "I learned a lot that will make me a better play this fall."
Phelps makes it no secret that he grew up a big Orange and White fan.
"I have loved the Vols all my life," Phelps said. "It was really neat to see things up close, to get to meet the coaching staff and get to know them better."
Phelps, a 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete, plays defensive back and will be a senior this fall.
While Phelps has no offers yet, he is hoping attending summer camps will help change that.
"I had a great camp at Tennessee," Phelps said. "I have attended Tennessee games in the past."
Phelps is impressed with Derek Dooley and his coaching staff.
"They were great," Phelps said. "I loved being coached by them. They are going to do great things at Tennessee."
