2004 Recruiting Profile: Kenny Wilson (RB)

When it comes to running back prospects, Liberal, Kansas standout Kenny Wilson will be one of the best among the Class of 2004.

A name you will be hearing a lot about over the upcoming months is running back Kenny Wilson from Liberal, Kansas. Wilson, 6-1 and 210 pounds, is a power back with very good speed. In fact, he owns the school record in the 200 meters (21.2) and has run in the 10.5 range for the 100 meters.

"Kenny is the best one I have ever had," Liberal Head Coach Rich Anderson said. "He is a combo of everything. Kenny is big and powerful. He also has a little scat back in him. This kid has a future."

Last season as a junior, Wilson rushed for over 1,500 yards and 18 touchdowns despite a painful and nagging injury.

"I think I use my power, speed and quickness very well," Wilson said. "I like to lower the shoulder but I can make the move too."

Before the season started, they thought he had sprained an ankle. Nine weeks later, it turned out to be an inflammed bursa, which created a lot of pain, but Kenny played through it.

"Right now, I am still only 90-95%. Last season wasn't fun but you have to play through it. You have to tough it out and be able to play in pain."

As this time, Kansas is his only offer but that is soon to change.

"Right now, I like Colorado, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Kansas State and Missouri. I grew up an Oklahoma fan. They have always produced good players and got the job done. But right now, I am wide open."
