SEC picks

You know it's a bad weekend for SEC football when the most intriguing matchup finds a 2-4 Kentucky team facing Jacksonville State of the Football Championship Subdivision.

Jacksonville State shocked Ole Miss last season in Oxford and has a legitimate chance to beat another homestanding SEC foe Saturday in Lexington.

The closest thing to a marquee game on this weekend's SEC schedule finds top-ranked LSU (7-0) hosting a scrappy Auburn team that is 5-2 but easily could be 2-5.

Second-ranked Alabama (7-0) hosts a Tennessee team that is 0-3 in conference play after losing 38-7 to LSU last weekend in Knoxville. Ole Miss, fresh from a 52-7 drubbing at the hands of Bama, hosts No. 9 Arkansas and Vanderbilt hosts Army in a battle of boring offenses.

InsideTennessee's staff went a combined 16-4 on last week's SEC picks. Chris Price was a perfect 5-0, improving his season's record to 47-9. Danny Parker and Josh Woodward went 4-1 each, while Randy Moore went 3-2.

Here are their projections for this week's games, plus their year-to-date records:

Arkansas at Ole Miss: This one should be easy for the Hogs. Houston Nutt gone after this season? Maybe. Arkansas 38-17.

Auburn at LSU: If this were at Auburn I would consider it, but it's not. Bayou Bengals 27-17.

Jacksonville State at Kentucky: I am taking the upset. Kentucky is bad. Really bad. Jack State 24-20.

Army at Vanderbilt: Vandy will get this one done. Barely. Dores 24-21.

Tennessee at Alabama: Not this year folks. 42-13.

Arkansas at Ole Miss: Entirely too much offense and Bobby Petrino for the Rebels. Arkansas, 31-20

Auburn at LSU: The suspensions won't be enough to help Auburn. LSU, 47-17

Jacksonville State at Kentucky: Wildcat Country get shocked at The Commonwealth. Jax State, 17-14

Army at Vanderbilt: The 'Dores shouldn't have any issues with the Cadets. Vanderbilt, 13-3

Tennessee at Alabama: Too much Tide experience, size and talent. Alabama, 38-10

Arkansas at Ole Miss: Houston Nutt's old team hammers his new team. Hogs, 41-21

Auburn at LSU: This might be a good game ... if Auburn still had Cam Newton ... and a run defense. LSU, 31-14

Jacksonville State at Kentucky: How bad is UK? Bad enough that this FCS opponent has a 50-50 chance to win. Cats, 24-20

Army at Vanderbilt: Don't be surprised if the post-game handshake is more exciting than the game. Commodores, 20-17

Tennessee at Alabama: Master (Saban) schools pupil (Dooley). Tide, 34-10

Arkansas at Ole Miss: 43-10 Hogs with the win

Auburn at LSU: 35-28 LSU stays undefeated and ready for the Crimson Tide on Nov. 5

Jacksonville State at Kentucky: 20-17 Kentucky in a close one. I was so close to picking Jacksonville St.

Army at Vanderbilt: 24-10 Vandy with the win

Tennessee at Alabama: 45-10 Bama with the big win.
