Pat Summitt and Mike Kryzewski were honored Tuesday evening in New York City at the IAC Building in Manhattan as Sports Illustrated's Sportswoman and Sportsman of the Year.

Former Tennessee Lady Vol Michelle Marciniak introduced Coach Pat Summitt and her remarks brought a standing ovation from the crowd.

During her comments Summitt, who was accompanied by her son Tyler Summitt - he was born shortly after Pat Summitt's recruiting visit to see Marciniak - thanked the audience, Time Inc., and Sports Illustrated for the recognition.

"I just want to say what an honor it is to be a part of such a great award in the company of such amazing people and remarkable sports legends," Summitt said.

Tyler, a junior at the University of Tennessee, addressed the gathering about the Pat Summitt Foundation and the vision the duo has for the fund.

The evening included a walk of the red carpet as well as photo sessions with the previous Sportspeople of the Year.
