Golfer Skinns named All-American

Vol sophomore David Skinns was named honorable mention Ping All-America by the Golf Coaches Association of America. He was a second-team All-American as a freshman in 2002.

Skinns tied for 22nd at the recent NCAA Golf Championships, closing with a four-under-par 68 in Round 3.

Skinns is the first Vol to earn back-to-back All-America recognition since Mike Sposa did so in 1990 and '91. UT golf coach Jim Kelson called Skinns' selection ''a tremendous achievement.''

Vol teammate Andrew Pratt was tabbed a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar for the second year in a row. The award recognizes a combination of excellence on the course and in the classroom.
