Kerry Keating Named Assistant Coach At UCLA

Assistant basketball coach Kerry Keating has been named as an assistant on Ben Howland's coaching staff at UCLA.

A 1993 graduate of Seton Hall, Keating has served on Buzz Peterson's coaching staff for the past five seasons, including the last two at the University of Tennessee. He first joined Peterson at Appalachian State prior to the 1998-99 season and then was at Tulsa in 2001 when the Golden Hurricane won the National Invitation Tournament championship.

"I will forever owe a debt of gratitude to Buzz and Jan Peterson," Keating said. "The last five years, particularly the last two here at Tennessee have been very special, and I will look back on them with a good feeling in my heart. I am very appreciative to all the people at Tennessee, and I know that the direction of the program is moving forward. The leadership in place with Buzz and Mike Hamilton will ensure success here, and I am glad that I was able to be on the ground floor of that foundation."

"I am very appreciative of everything Kerry has done for us here at the University of Tennessee," Peterson said. "He has been a key part of our success at Tulsa and Appalachian State, as well as here at Tennessee. UCLA is a school with a lot of tradition and will be a great opportunity for him. As an assistant coach this will allow him to reach out to other areas of the country and will enhance his opportunity to become a head coach."
