The much-anticipated debut for highly-coveted hoops recruit Jarnell Stokes come to fruition on Saturday afternoon in Tennessee's 65-62 loss to SEC rival Kentucky in front of 21,678 fans at Thompson-Boling Arena.

"I just told him, if there's one guy, shoot the ball. If there's two guys, a double team, pass the ball. If it's one-on-one, make plays," Tennessee coach Cuonzo Martin said he told Stokes before entering.

Although the Memphis native talked repeatedly afterward about team results, the former five-star prospect still did his part to provide a spark.

Stokes came off the bench to contribute nine points (4 of 5 shooting) and four rebounds in 17 minutes played.

"Coach (Cuonzo Martin) really prepared me for it," Stokes said. "I was just playing for my team and the state of Tennessee."
