"I'm a fourth quarter guy."

Jay Lucas is one of the nation's top running back prospects. He did it all last season, including a state championship and well over 2,000 yards rushing.

Jay Lucas will be one of the most coveted running backs from the state of Louisiana is a year when the Bayou State is loaded with ball carries. Last season as a junior, Lucas led Baton Rouge (La.) Redemptorist High School to a perfect 15-0 record and state championship. He rushed for 2,334 yards and 34 touchdowns. In the state title game, Lucas, 5-11 and 220 pounds, rushed for 257 yards and 4 touchdowns.

"I compare myself to Emmitt Smith," Lucas said. "I have good power and vision. I hit the hole hard and break tackles. I am a between the tackle guy that gets stronger as the game goes on. I am a fourth quarter guy too."

Lucas is also a complete back. He can block when asked and last season he had 330 receiving yards and 2 TD receptions. According to Lucas he has scholarship offers from LSU, Indiana and Florida State.

"Tennessee, Alabama, Texas, Colorado and Nebraska are also really recruiting me hard. For now, I like LSU, FSU, Tennessee, Texas, Colorado, Miami and Nebraska. I am pretty wide open. I want to take all my visits and see what is going on. I will take my time and get to know all the coaches."

Lucas plans on camping at LSU, FSU and Miami this summer.
