UT faces heat in Games 1 and 2

Tennessee's football team may be battling more than quality opponents in its first two games of the 2003 season. The Big Orange could be battling sweltering midday heat, as well.

ESPN2 will televise the Vols' Aug. 30 opener against Fresno State at 3 p.m. EST and their Sept. 6 game against Marshall at 4 p.m. Both games will be played at Neyland Stadium, which can be a very warm place to play a mid-afternoon game in late summer/early fall.

Normally, Tennessee's September home games are played at night to avoid problems with the heat. The opportunity to play two televised games obviously convinced UT officials to compromise a bit.
