No Vols among top 20 NFL prospects

Tennessee's football program does not boast a player worthy of being among the top 20 picks in next spring's NFL draft. But Miami, which UT visits Nov. 8, boasts two of the top five picks, and both are linebackers. At least, that's the word from BLESTO, one of the two NFL scouting services.

In a story written by Len Pasquarelli and posted on espn.com, BLESTO's top five prospects for the 2004 draft are:
1) Roy Williams, WR, Texas
2) D.J. Williams, LB, Miami
3) Lee Evans, WR, Wisconson
4) Jonathan Vilma, LB, Miami
5) Greg Jones, TB, Florida State

The top-rated SEC player is Ole Miss quarterback Eli Manning, who checks in at No. 9. South Carolina offensive tackle Travelle Wharton is rated No. 17 and Auburn linebacker Donatrrious Thomas is among three players tied for 18th.

Manning is BLESTO's top-rated QB, followed closely by Tulane's J.P. Losman (No. 10) and Washington's Cody Pickett (No. 16).

However, National Football Scouting -- the other service used by NFL teams -- rates Losman ahead of Manning.
