The InsideTennessee.com staff of beat reporters hasn't missed a Tennessee football practice since Josh Woodward took over as the magazine and website's publisher.
Stationed at various parts of Haslam Field and Neyland-Thompson Sports Center, the crew is taking in the Volunteer workouts with a watchful eye to keep its site subscribers as educated on the Big Orange as possible.
Thursday evening was no different as InsideTennessee ventured to another preseason camp workout to get as much information, photographs and video footage as possible.
Here's a look at what stuck out to us Thursday:
The Volunteers returned to Haslam Field on Thursday evening after their week-long stay at Milligan College in Elizabethton, Tenn., for training camp. They were greeted with more great weather conditions and pristine turf as Haslam has benefited from the rest.
Director of athletics Dave Hart was on hand to observe practice and was chatting up former Tennessee quarterback turned assistant athletic director Condredge Holloway.
From the offensive side…
The running back group had a tough start to tonight's practice, fumbling on two occasions while going through individual drills. One came from Marlin Lane and the other came from Deanthonie Summerhill. As a result, the entire group did up downs.
Both wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson (shoulder) and tight end Mychal Rivera (knee) were in red non-contact jerseys once again. Patterson has said that he would like to shred the non-contact label, but continues to be held back.
Head coach Derek Dooley worked during the early periods with Charlie Coiner and the tight ends group giving sophomore Brendan Downs personal instructions during blocking drills. Dooley coached tight ends at LSU (2000-02) and with the Miami Dolphins (2005-06)
Tight end Joseph Ayres was on crutches after practice.
From the defensive side…
Freshman safety LaDarrell McNeil (hamstring), who has been praised by Dooley throughout training camp, continues to be in a red non-contact jersey.
Freshman linebacker Kenneth Bynum (knee) was on crutches observing tonight's practice. Bynum, who underwent meniscus surgery early in training camp, will miss the entire 2011 season.
Safety Brent Brewer was without the knee brace he has been wearing most of camp, but he did still have a compression sleeve on his thigh outside of his shorts during practice.
