KEYS TO THE GAME:
TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS (2-1, 0-1 SEC)
For Tennessee, the key to the game will be play their defense. Akron is going to come out with guns a blazin'. They are going to throw the ball all over the yard and they are going to hit some plays. When you throw the ball 60 plus times a game you are bound to hit a few. If Tennessee plays their defense they will be fine. Just weather a storm or two.
AKRON ZIPS (2-0, 1-0 SEC)
For Akron, the key will be to exploit the Tennessee secondary. The Vols are struggling to find a consistent start opposite Prentiss Waggner and with the loss of leading tackler Brian Randolph they will be vulnerable. Throw the ball all over the place and you might have a chance to shock the Vols in Neyland stadium.
— A win gives Tennessee consecutive 3-1 starts for the first time since 2005-06 and three wins before the end of September for the first time since 2006, when the Vols posted the last record above .500 in August/ September games for the program (4-1).
— A win represents the ninth consecutive non-conference win for the Vols since Sept. 25, 2010 and the eighth in a row over a non-conference opponent at Neyland Stadium.
— A win Improves the Vols to 5-0 all-time vs. Mid-American Conference schools.
— Akron is the first MAC team that Ten- nessee ever played.
— Akron was the first team to move from I-AA to I-A in 1987.
— UT Athletic Director Dave Hart, Akron defensive coordinator Chuck Amato and special teams/receivers coach Jeff Bowden all previously worked together at Florida State.

WHAT A WIN MEANS:
A win means the Vols are back on track. They need a warm-up game to get back in the swing of things after the disappointment of the Florida game. A win is nothing more than a reset to the 2012 season. The Vols needed this game.
A win for Akron means a huge upset and national headlines. This is the kind of game that programs like Akron talk about for years ahead. It is going to be tough, but their passing game could be the answer to the Vols powerful offense.
