WR Coach Hot Board

Former Tennessee Volunteer National Championship winning quarterback Tee Martin declined Butch Jones' offer to coach wide receivers at Tennessee. Who's next? Find out from InsideTennessee.com.

Darin Hinshaw
Current Position:
Former wide receivers coach at Tennessee
Age:
40
Notable:
The biggest plus on Hinshaw is that he knows Tennessee. He has been the recruiting coordinator and has great relationships with many of the recruits that are currently committed to Tennessee. Hinshaw has expressed a desire to remain in Knoxville and has never been out of the running for the position, especially after the decline from Tee Martin.

TJ Weist
Current Position:
Wide Receivers and Recruiting Coordinator at Cincinnati
Age:
47
Notable:
Probably the biggest plus to Weist is his familiarity with Jones. The two worked together at Cincinnati. The 24-year coaching veteran, who has mentored 14 NFL receivers, was also the recruiting coordinator for Jones in 2012. In 2010, Weist coached a pair of all-BIG EAST Conference selections in Armon Binns (first team) and D.J. Woods (second team).

Ron Dugans
Current Position:
Wide Receivers at Louisville
Age:
35
Notable:
A former Florida State wide receiver and third-round pick to the Cincinnati Bengals, Dugans was offered the position at Lousiville by Charlie Strong and has held it since. Dugans tutored true freshman Eli Rogers to lead the Cardinals in receptions with 41, and red-shirt freshman Michaelee Harris caught 37 passes for a team-high 455 yards. True freshman DeVante Parker caught a team-high six touchdown passes on just 18 receptions.

Dameyune Craig
Current Position:
Quarterbacks/Recruiting Coordinator
Age:
38
Notable:
Craig is in his sixth season at Florida State. Not only is he the recruiting coordinator for Jimbo Fisher, but he knows the conference having played at Auburn. He still holds numerous Auburn passing records, including completions (216) and passing yards (3,227) in a season as well as a single-game record for most net yards gained (445 vs. Army in 1996; 75 rush, 370 pass). Before joining Fisher at Florida State Craig coached wide receivers at South Alabama.

Larry Porter
Current Position:
Former head coach at Memphis
Age:
Notable:
It's much easier to get your finger on the pulse of a coach to gauge his interest in joining your staff when he is unemployed. Porter is in such a position after his firing from being head coach at Memphis.

If Tennessee ever wants to get back to the upper echelon of college football teams, it must pluck talent from Memphis and its surrounding parts. Porter, whose career started at Wooddale High School in Memphis, would fill that role nicely.

Gunter Brewer
Current Position:
Passing Game Coordinator, Wide Receivers at North Carolina
Age:
48
Notable:
Brewer is now in his second coaching stint at North Carolina. He serves as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. Brewer has coached three Biletnikoff Award finalists, including two winners in Randy Moss and Justin Blackmon.
Bio:

Thomas Woods
Current Position:
Former wide Receivers at Tulane
Age:
45
Notable:
While going outside the relationship circle isn't something many head coaches like to do, like Tee Martin, Woods would be an assistant with firm ties to Tennessee itself as a two-time All-SEC selection in 1988 and 1989. Woods put in five years at Tulane, but was not retained following the 2011 hiring of Curt Johnson.
