Mercedes Russell in her own words

Hello Vol Fans.

I just want to say how excited I am to be part of the Tennessee family. I have always dreamed of playing for Tennessee, and it is crazy to think that soon it will be a reality.

We are halfway into our season and we are 14-3 on the year. My teammates and I have just had a great opportunity to play in the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.. the Birthplace of Basketball.

The experience for our team was amazing. It was the first time anyone on the team had been back to the Northeast. We played Braintree High School from the Boston area. They were very tough and physical but our team prevailed 51-42.

During this trip we were able to tour the Basketball Hall of Fame. It was awesome to see all of the Tennessee memorabilia there in the Hall of Fame.

The day after the game we were able to spend the day in Boston touring around. Quincy Market and the street show outside of there was the highlight of the day.

I look forward to keeping you updated with our season and can't wait until June, so I can get to Knoxville on a permanent basis and get to work as a Lady Vol.
