Hubbs hunting state crown

After receiving a bye in the sectional round, Dyer County (Tenn.) High School brushed off some rust to take on Hillsboro in the quarterfinal round of the TSSAA Class AAA state tournament. Led by Tennessee signee Robert Hubbs, the Choctaws moved onto the semis with a 40-35 victory.

The FOX Sports NEXT five-star played 30 of the 32 minutes, coming out only to replace a contact that had been swiped out of his eye by a Hillsboro defender. Hubbs faced double teams a majority of the afternoon but provided 11 points on 5 of 19 shooting to go with seven rebounds.

Dyer County (30-3) faces Siegel (29-5) in a semifinal back on campus at Middle Tennessee State University on Friday morning at 11:45 CST.

The 6-foot-4, 170-pounder will flip from playing in the post to handling shooting guard duties when he arrives in Knoxville. Joining him will be fellow Class of 2013 signees A.J. Davis and Travon Landry.
