IT picks the SEC

You'll get the best coverage of Vol football, including the best predictions, right here at InsideTennessee. Check out our staff's latest SEC projections:

Danny Parker danced to a different drummer last week, being the only InsideTennessee staffer to forecast Missouri's beat-down of Tennessee. Parker went 6-0 on last weekend's SEC picks; the rest of the staff went 5-1 each.

There are no dissenting votes this week as the IT staff is unanimous on the Vols' Homecoming matchup with No. 7 Auburn.

All four IT staffers also like the same team in the Alabama-LSU showdown.

Here are this week's picks (with season records in parenthesis):

LSU at Alabama: Like prized recruits all over the country, wish I could be at BDS for this one. It's the epitome of SEC football of young and old. Alabama, 23-22.

Arkansas at Ole Miss: Razorbacks remind me to send you the home improvement store gift card for all the brooms to keep the cellar in the SEC West cleaned up. Ole Miss, 46-16.

Vanderbilt at Florida: Will Muschamp will be forced to make staff changes this offseason if the Gators lose this one because they won't reach a bowl. Florida, 18-14.

Appalachian State at Georgia: Don't let Todd Gurley see the field. Keep your house in the stable for the must-have carries down the stretch. Georgia, 35-10.

Missouri at Kentucky: Don't see Maty Mauk hitting the century mark on the ground again but easy peasy afternoon for the Tigers. Missouri, 44-9.

Miss. State at Texas A&M: The Bulldogs will be another SEC team home for the holidays as they drop 4 of 5 down the stretch. Texas A&M, 56-13.

Auburn at Tennessee: Worst matchup of the season for the Volunteers. Personnel and schematic changes are necessary for it to be much of a game (get Jalen Reeves-Maybin on the field). Don't see either taking place. Auburn, 38-17.

Randy Moore (68-8)

LSU at Alabama: John Chavis' defense usually keeps this game close but the Tiger D isn't as stout as usual. Tide, 27-17

Arkansas at Ole Miss: You think Bret Bielema is wishing he'd stayed at Wisconsin? I do. Rebels, 31-14

Vanderbilt at Florida: I'm giving the Gators a tentative nod simply because The Swamp is such a tough place for visitors to play. Florida, 23-20

Appalachian State at Georgia: The Mountaineers are good enough to give the Dawgs a decent game most years. This isn't most years, though. Georgia, 42-14

Missouri at Kentucky: I wonder if Mark Stoops has realized what a dumpster fire he inherited yet? If he hasn't, he soon will. Tigers, 34-14

Miss. State at Texas A&M: The Dan Mullen Farewell Tour continues. Aggies, 41-28

Auburn at Tennessee: The Vols' meat-grinder schedule has taken a toll but an animated home crowd could help the Big Orange keep things interesting. Tigers, 31-24

LSU at Alabama: This is a great game, but with LSU being so young on defense I don't see the Tigers winning. Alabama 35-17

Arkansas at Ole Miss: Hugh Freeze is having a great second year and Tennessee fans need to compare what he did to what Tennessee will look like next season. Ole Miss 38-20

Vanderbilt at Florida: Florida has guys hurt left and right. They had a starting offensive lineman break his arm falling off his scooter this week. Funny thing is someone from Vandy likely designed that scooter. Gators 23-20

Appalachian State at Georgia: Shouldn't even be close. Bulldogs 45-10

Missouri at Kentucky: What is stronger a Tiger or a Wildcat? I'm going Tiger. Missouri 45-3

Miss. State at Texas A&M: Dan Muillen's head will be spinning after he leaves College Station. Aggies 49-10

Auburn at Tennessee: Two new coaches to the SEC and both doing a good job. The one difference, one inherited talent and one did not. Tigers 34-17

LSU at Alabama: Alabama is too sound a football team for LSU. That steady running game, speedy wideouts and stingy defense will be enough to let the Tide roll. Alabama 28-21.

Arkansas at Ole Miss: It just hasn't been a good year for Bret Bielema. And this weekend is not going to help. Ole Miss 41-13.

Vanderbilt at Florida: Vandy's poor quarterback play can't get it done against the Gators. Florida 24-17.

Appalachian State at Georgia: This won't be close. But you still have that Michigan game, Appalachian State. Never forget. Dawgs 42-20.

Missouri at Kentucky: Good luck, Kentucky. Maty Mauk will one-up his Tennessee performance against the Cats. Tigers 38-10.

Miss. State at Texas A&M: Johnny Football is very good at football. The rest of his team isn't bad, either. Texas A&M 48-14.

Auburn at Tennessee: I don't see how Tennessee hangs with Auburn. The Tigers' SEC-best rushing attack paired with a dual-threat quarterback in Nick Marshall will be too much for the Vols. The young Joshua Dobbs and the Vols' offense can't keep pace. Auburn 34-17.
