Dimarya Mixon said it himself.

"You never know what can happen on trips," Mixon told InsideTennessee on Wednesday.

During an official visit to Knoxville this weekend, the 6-foot-3, 265-pound defensive end verbally committed to the Tennessee coaching staff. The declaration came shortly after the Vols lost to the Auburn Tigers.

Mixon's decision has the Vols at 30 commitments.

As a member of the 2013 class, Mixon committed to a pair of BCS programs before ultimately signing with Nebraska.

Qualification issues left the West Mesquite (Texas) High School graduate with no place to play.

Mixon confirmed on Wednesday that he's been back home working a job and training both in the weight room and on the field.

Rules prevent prospects from speaking with media while on official visits. However, IT plans to interview Mixon after his visit is complete.
