Late spurt pushes Vols past SEC visitor

Jordan McRae poured in 34 points to help Tennessee overcome a second-half deficit and win 81-74 over Arkansas on Wednesday night at Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Volunteers (12-6, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) also got double-figure scoring from Jeronne Maymon (17 points) and Josh Richardson (10).

The Orange & White rallied with a 7-0 run after trailing by two points with three minutes to play.

McRae led Tennessee at the foul line, making 12 of 14 attempts. He also grabbed seven rebounds blocked a pair of shots. Maymon snagged a team-leading nine boards. Armani Moore had four blocks.

Coty Clarke's 16 points paced Arkansas (12-6, 1-4). Rashad Madden had 15 points and eight rebounds. Fred Gulley made all five attempts from the field and totaled 11 points. Kikko Haydar provided 10 points.

Tennessee was up 39-37 at intermission and sank 30 of 38 at the charity stripe.
