BEAVERTON, Ore. — The recruitment of Torrance Gibson is close to reaching its finality.

At 6-feet-4, 204 pounds, the American Heritage (Fla.) High School standout has ample ability to play a number of positions and excel. However, his skill set makes him a weapon at quarterback and makes sure the playmaker touches the ball at every snap, which is why he’s one of the most coveted prospect in the nation for the 2015 signing class and a Scout five-star.

The left-handed triggerman has already logged quite a bit of time this calendar year familiarizing himself with the top schools on his list of favorites. Gibson has three official visits in mind and intends to take all five of the allotment “just to build the relationship. ‘I don’t want to talk about football. Let’s talk about something else.’”

One school the Plantation, Fla., native says will get one of those officials is Tennessee. A major reason why the Volunteers are in the hunt to get Gibson’s signed National Letter of Intent is second-year coach Butch Jones.

“He’s a great coach, man, no doubt about it,” said Gibson, who is being recruited as a quarterback by the Orange & White.

Tennessee lost a quarterback this spring due to transfer, Justin Worley graduates after the 2014 season. The goal is to have ample talent at the most important position in team sports.

“I think everyone believes in (Jones) plan,” Gibson said.

“I feel comfortable with him. I feel comfortable talking with him. I can talk about anything around him. I really feel comfortable with coach Jones.”
