Head coaches set the stage for Gamecocks-Vols

Meeting No. 33 between Southeastern Conference Eastern Division rivals Tennessee and South Carolina is set to kick off.

Tennessee leads the all-times series 23-7-2 and upset the then-No. 9-ranked Gamecocks 23-21 in the last matchup.

The Volunteers (3-5, 0-4 SEC) are coming off a home defeat at the hands of No. 4 Alabama 34-20. South Carolina (4-4, 2-4) fell to No. 5 Auburn 42-35. The two have combined to lose seven consecutive league games.

The Big Orange is the least penalized team in the SEC. Freshman kicker Aaron Medley is tied for the league lead in field goals made (12). Senior linebacker A.J. Johnson is tops by a wide margin in total tackles (86).

For just the third time in program history, South Carolina's offense totaled 500 yards or more in three consecutive games. It has never totaled 500-plus in four straight.

South Carolina is tops in the SEC Eastern Division in passing offense (284.2) and total offense (461.4). However, it is tied for last in scoring defense (32.8) and second to last in total defense (437.5).

Kickoff at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia is at 7:30 p.m. Eastern.
